Country

Serbia

Serbia's lakes are mostly made by rivers and dams, with a few natural surprises in the plains of the north.

On the Danube, the Iron Gates gorge, shared with Romania, holds a long lake behind the Đerdap dam, and Srebrno jezero, a former arm of the river, is a popular summer resort. The reservoirs of Perućac on the Drina, Zlatar in the south-west and Vlasina in the south-east draw swimmers and anglers.

In Vojvodina, Lake Palić near Subotica is an old lakeside resort, and Slano Kopovo is a salt lake of birds and steppe. In the south, Gazivoda on the Ibar reaches into Kosovo.
