Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve

Directions

Ramsar siteUNESCO World Heritage siteUNESCO biosphere reserve

The reserve covers the Romanian part of the Danube Delta, Europe's largest wetland after the Volga Delta, together with the Razim–Sinoie lagoons south of it. Channels, reed beds, floating islands and lakes make up a landscape that is reached mostly by boat.

It is a haven for birds, from pelicans to cormorants and herons, and for fish. Fishing villages such as Jurilovca, on the shore of the Razim–Sinoie lagoons, are the bases for exploring them.
