Slano Kopovo Special Nature Reserve

Directions

Nature reserveRamsar site

Slano Kopovo is a salt marsh in the Banat plain near Novi Bečej, an old meander of the Tisza that fills with water in winter and spring and often dries out in summer. Salt-loving plants grow on its shores.

The reserve is one of the most important bird sites in Serbia: waders and ducks nest here, and in autumn thousands of cranes stop on their migration. Visits are best arranged with the reserve's manager.
